As the Additive Technology Leader, Brent is leading the creation and introduction of disruptive additive manufacturing technologies across multiple disciplines including materials, machines, modalities, design, analytics, edge controls, and security. These technologies are being introduced as products into the GE businesses including the industry leading GE Additive business. GE Research technologies will be at the heart of several new products including Build Prep Software, Meltpool Statistical Process Control, Binder Jet, EBeam and DMLM products. Brent joined GE in 1995 on the Edison Engineering program in Aircraft Engines. He joined GE Global Research in 2000 as a Controls Engineer. He then progressed through several roles including Business Platform Leader for GE Aviation Systems where he helped to define the technology development for Avionics, Electric Power, and Mechanical systems. He became the High Frequency Power Electronics Lab Manager in 2010 and was promoted to Technology Leader for Connected Controls in 2011. In this role he led the research and development of technologies for safety critical control algorithms, communications, sensing systems, and helped to build the Industrial Internet Control System and Outcome Optimizer for GE. In 2017 Brent became the leader of the Edge mission for GE to securely connect and software define every asset in GE. This was enabled by a secure, connected, interoperable and software defined platform we call EdgeOS by GE Global Research. Brent earned a Bachelor's of Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master's of Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, both in Mechanical Engineering.
